3-19-13 Daily Update

Parents,

We had a fun day of learning today.  I had a couple of late meetings so sorry for the late update.

International Food Day is Friday.  Mrs. Manos should have sent home some information about this.  (She had to leave early because she was not feeling well so she may send it tomorrow)  We are doing this in the afternoon on Friday.  Please be sure to have individually prepared food items and some simple way to serve it or pass it out.

3-15-13 Daily Update

Parents,

Culture Boxes.  Culture Box presentations are next week.  Please see Mrs. Manos's schedule as to your child's day.

1K/5K Powerhouse Run/Walk.    The Powerhouse 1K/5K is held on April 13 at 7:30AM.  If you've never participated before, its a lot of fun.  Breakfast snacks are provided.  Lots of prizes are given away.  I am training for this myself, but I am really slow so I know that with a little bit of training the students could run this faster than me.  I have thrown down the gauntlet to my class and challenged them to out run me this year.

Nothing to do tonight?  Come support Mr. Kirwin and myself at the Family Fun Night at AWHS gymnasium.  I'd love to have some fans cheering us on as we shoot free throws for Whitehouse Primary.

3-14-13 Daily Update

Parents,

13ABC Basketball challenge - Mr. Kirwin and I will be shooting free throws in an effort to win a contest between all of the AW school buildings.  Come cheer us on and watch a fun game of basketball.  Last year, 3 NFL players played for team 13 ABC vs. the Anthony Wayne teacher's team.  Last year, at halftime, they also gave away 2 Kindle Fires along with other prizes.  There is a carnival event that goes on before the game in the auxiliary gym that's fun, too.

Culture Boxes.  Culture Box note cards were due today.  Many students have again misplaced their packets with the directions for the project.  I am attaching them to this e-mail once again for those students.  Students will now need to prepare for their presentations next week.

Fun day of learning today!  We had fun discussions about underground caves and sink holes as we were learning about water erosion today in Science.  In Reading, we read silly poetry and learned how to write Limericks.  In Math, we began learning about perimeter.
