4th Grade OAA Night

All 4th grade students and parents have the opportunity to learn more about the upcoming Ohio Achievement Assessment (OAA) on Thursday, April 11th from 6:00-7:30. There will be a fun scavenger hunt around the building with sample/practice problems. Cookies and punch will be provided. All students attending will be excused from homework Thursday night. Come out an learn as a family!

3-28-13 Daily Update

Parents,

We had a busy, but fun day today.  We did buddy reading with Miss Bailin and Mrs. Dressel's class in the morning as our Right to Read Week activity.  We took tests in Science, Spelling, and Social Studies.  We played Battleball.  To finish the day, we rewarded great effort and responsibility on the Math Madness by watching  "Homeward Bound."   We even enjoyed had some popcorn to get the full movie experience. 

Grade cards.    These went home today.  Please review the grade card and report included and return the envelope signed on Monday, April 8.

Science test.  Check out your child's test results here.

Reading over break.  All students are expected to complete a book and take an AR test over it when they return after break.

Math Test.  These went home today as well.  Most students did a great job on the Geometry test.  A few students who did not are expected to PSAR (Please sign and return).

Papers.  Lots of papers and packets went home today.  Be sure to empty these out of your child's take home folder.

Pizza Party.  Thank you parents for the 2 liter donations for the party today!  We had a fun time and even did a little dancing after the pizza was eaten.  Let's just say some students have some "interesting" versions of the Harlem Shake.  :0)

Science Test - Wednesday

Parents,

Your child will have Science test on Wednesday over Ch. 2 Water (Erosion and Weathering).  Last Thursday we stapled papers from this unit and sent them home to use to study.  Because of the cancelation today and our famous author tomorrow, we may not get time in class to review for the test as we normally would.  All students can review for the test using the "Water Ch. 2 Review Quiz" on Moodle.  Students can take the practice test here:

3-22-13 Daily Update

Parents,

Right ro Read week.  Next week is Right to Read Week.  Our theme is "Reach for the Stars."  Our famous author will be coming on Tuesday, and we will be doing daily reading activities each dy to go along with the theme.

International food fest.  Thanks for all of the yummy food items brought in today.  They looked terrific.  I will post some of the pictures from the food if I get a chance this weekend.

Culture boxes.  Great job on this project!  The boxes, artifacts, and facts gathered looked terrific.  We hope that your child learned a lot from this project about their heritage.  If so, send Mrs. Manos a quick e-mail telling her this!

3-21-13 Daily Update

Parents,

Another 100% homework turn in day!  Awesome! 

End of quarter.  Tomorrow is the last day of 3rd quarter and will be the last chance for your child to earn AR points toward their goal.

Spirit Day.  Wear BLUE tomorrow!

International food fest.  Just another reminder to be sensible about items brought in for the food fest tomorrow.  They need to be individually prepared so that they can be passed out quickly and easily after lunch tomorrow in the classroom.  Please respect the fact that I do not have access to normal kitchen supplies like napkins, forks, knives, plates, etc...

1k/5K Run/Walk.  I had a lot of students tell me they were planning on beating me in the 5K Powerhouse run on April 13th.  My response was to that was, "go for it."  I'm not fast, but I know I'll beat everyone who's not entered!  So far  I haven't seen many entry forms submitted.  This could be a great incentive to get your child outside and exercising something other than their thumbs.  ;0)

Parents,

100% homework turn in and hard workers today! Yeah!

Essay contest.  Your child is participating in an essay contest by the Toledo Lucas County Library.  Students who submit the best essay in their age group can win cash prizes up to $200.  We are working on typing our rough drafts into a google document and will send these essays this Friday if they are done.  In order for them to be submitted for consideration for the prize, each must have the permission slip I sent home filled out and signed.

Culture boxes.  With several students being absent and Mrs. Manos being sick today, the presentations are running behind.  All students should be preapred to present tomorrow if they have not presented yet.
